Romney Gets Heckled
February 18, 2007
How messed up is this and why does Mitt Romney play it like a wuss? In this clip, a religious wingnut, or as my secret blogger crush Andrew Sullivan calls him “Republican Christianist,” calls Romney out for being a Mormon. Instead of stepping up, Romney responds with a chuckle and mutters something about how we need a person of faith to lead the country.
As Andrew (sigh) says “How is that not a religious test for the presidency?” Indeed.

Mitt Romney playing it like a wuss?? That is extremely funny especially since you failed to mention that his answer garnered a standing ovation from those folks present in the video.
If he would have handled it like a “man” and demeaned the Gentleman you would have been calling Romney out for being heartless, a no good SOB, not acting like a Christian…instead you call him out for “turning the other cheek”…chuckling and then answering the person’s question with an answer that to many Americans feel is a vital part…a person of faith to lead this country.

Are you saying that an atheist can’t lead the country? What about someone of a faith different than Christianity, say someone Muslim? Or what about a pagan? Point is that there is a sentiment running through the religious right that only a Christian who follows their extreme version of Christianity is suitable. I disagree.

I didn’t say an atheist couldn’t run this country but right at 80% of Americans consider themselves in relative terms of a belief with Christianity. I do not see a person of Muslim belief running this country, not until al-Qaeda takes over that is…that was a joke…
As for the Pagan belief you talked about, I’d rather not comment being that my computer has it’s own “spirit” and I wouldn’t want to write the wrong thing then the computer be mad at me…of course though under this belief, we’re all gods and godesses!!!!!
Not all Christians are extreme and not all of those on the Left are atheist like George Soros…but there are too many people who connect with their faith and their faith plays a huge part in their decisions and everyday life…this will keep Christians the leaders of America…
